My 307 1.6hdi runs sluggish when 'pottering' about town i.e. on low revs, it also sometimes does a 'bucking' action then throws a whole load of smoke out the back exhaust, not to the amusement of the car behind! When I boot it tho it drives great (more so that ive now had a remap and removed the FAP *grin*).
My main questions are: 1. What are the signs of a nackered EGR valve and what code will it bring up? 2. is it worth taking the EGR valve off, cleaning out & re-fitting or is it best to just buy a new one? Once I get some replies I will carry out the best course of action and do a clean or removal and fit guide Az

Peugeot Planet will report some faults on a EGR valve.
Depending on the age and mileage its highly likely it will be gummed up with rubbish, especially if used mainly locally. I'm not sure if the 1.6 EGR valve to get to (the 2.0 is a nightmare) but I'd highly recommend removal, inspection, and then clean or replace.

Only the 90bhp (not sure on the 110).... the 136bhp isn't too bad to get to
..... you just need to have long arms ![]() I believe the EGR on the 110 1.6HDI is also fairly easy to get to.

You need to stand at the nearside wing and look between the fuel filter and the firewall, its just below the fuel filter. you will need to remove the filter but dont disconnect any pipes just move it aside. Now you will be able to see the egr valve: its an awkward place to get your hands in and i moved the fuel filter housing and disconnected the wiring connectors and servo vacuum pipe to make more room. You will need a 10mm socket on a 1/4 drive ratchet, you can use a 3/8 drive but the room you have to work in makes it easier with the 1/4. You also need to undo and disconnect the water trap/separator thingy, shiny metal gismo running off the egr towards the drivers side, by your left hand if you stood where i said. I believe its 8mm. Enjoy tinkering, Brad
PS nearly forgot, there is a metal gasket that the egr beds on, if you can get a magnet near the joint as you remove the bolts it will save you hunting down the back of the engine for it. Last edited by sterion75; 01-16-2012 at 06:01 PM. Reason: ps |

Unfortunately during the process I managed to break the connector clip for the servo vacuum pipe, have managed to araldite it back into place. Only problem is I cant remember which way the spring and washer (inside the connector clip) goes on!! My brake pedal is rock solid so I’ve done something wrong somewhere. Have tried to get just the clip from the dealers but they say i's the whole servo I need to buy at £128.49 SOD THAT!! Anyone know if I can get it separate? part numbers on it are: >PA66GF30< or F009D00691 cheers

Go for it AZ, you've drawn blood, your now officially a Peugeot owner. I have a 407 so might have been a bit different from your 307. Personally after all the knuckle skinning i would have fitted new, at least its done for a while.

Has some of you know I asked about my EGR in another thread and was told too give it a good clean to see if it would help my MPG.
They did have the EGR3 in (£13.99 ) but I picked it up and went to pay for it, now I always use this place so get abit of discount anyway. They asked what I was doing and when I said they said I didnt need it as if there was a problem with the EGR it would throw a light up on the dash, I tied to explain that there was a good chance it just needed cleaning and after a ( best described as an argument) I ended up just walking out without the Cleaner. They also said I needed a FORTE Diesel Additive instead of the EGR3. Even though I have no faults showing up on the dash I am right in thinking that it still needs cleaning aint I ? Also what about this Forte stuff? Thanks Stu |
