Why have certain words in posts been linked by ebay and turning them into links to their site??

Antifreeze, timing belt & water pump have all been turned into ebay links on other posts

Hover the mouse, and is says link added by VigLink

.... is this a way of making money for the forum??

Yeah, its quite irritating. I see a link for Ebay relating to a topic, but its just a generic link to their home page rather than a particular item like this:
