Droning From Peugeot 307

Hi there I have a peugeot 307 and since purchasing the car i get a drone from the front of the car mainly when slowing down it is also noisy on smooth road surfaces. I was advised it was my o/s drive shaft intermitant bearing I knew my CV joint was going so replaced the whole drive shaft. The noise is still there so i am now clueless. I have taken the vehicle into garages and they cannot find any reason for the sound but admit its there.

I have put this question into the google and for some reason Parkers Guide tell you to stay clear of Peugeot 307 with a drone sound but dont state why?

Has anyone had this problem in the past if so what is the answer?

I was going to say that - tyres.

Is it a constant noise or does it gently come in and gently fade out over and over again?
