Default Drive without MAF?

Hello, I'm driving Peugeot 206 1.4 HDI and i have problem:
Lately I have noticed when the car warms up, works at about 850rpm, and then slowly decreasing up to 750rpm and suddenly jumps to 1000rpm .. and so on. I have read that the flow meter (MAF) wants to make this problem. I tried to disconnect the flow meter (car was on idle) and in moment engine is back to 850 RPM and contius still. Car performans is same, no black smoke ... so I wonder could it couse some damage to the engine if I continue to drive without MAF?

you cant damage the engine with the MAF unpluged, but am i right the car is ok with the MAF unpluged?

if it is then take it out and clean it with some intake clear the sensor that is and let it dry for 10mins i done this for few HDi's and most of the time it sorts the prob out,

if that sorts the prob out then drive it for a while if the car starts to do it again look into a new one dont buy from eBay as them clones dont work well
before you go down that route get the car on the computer incase its something else,

bettyswollocks likes this.
