Default Diesel filler cap 307 HDi

OK ... I rather unfortunately ground my lovely 2002 307 HDi down the central reservation on the motorway and after some deliberation the insurance company agreed to get it fixed. (it was right on the write-off limit).

Bristol Street Motors in Gloucester (Ford dealership) were given the job and they have bodged it beyond belief ... I am waiting on a ring back tomorrow morning from LV Insrance so that I can go through all the cock-ups and to ask for an independant assessment of my vehicle before it goes back to BSM. One thing I noticed today was that when I filled up the car with diesel, the plastic hole that the nozzle goes into was moving freely with about a .5cm margin either side. Also even I could see that the plastic surround was not sittiing in the metal guide slot underneath properly. BUT the one thing that has me baffled is the filler cap .... it looks new, clean and only a tiny bit of diesel residue on it... but the lock is definately the old one. Is it possible that that have replaced the filler cap and just put the old lock back in.

I hesitate to add that there was no damage to that area of the car. Maybe they melted down all the screws, washers and other plastic fixings that they forgot to put back on the car and made me a new one?

Anyone have any ideas before I speak with LV tomorrow?

Many thanks in advance.... and you can stop laughing at my terminology too .... Can you knit? LOL
