Default which diesel and/or additive?

Hi
I'm taking the car for an mot in a couple of weeks, last year car needed to be revved quite high and was taken out for a spin by the mechanic in order for it to pass the emissions. He mentioned perhaps I should use an additive or change the fuel I use. I currently use Tesco's diesel, only other local alternative is Texaco or Gulf. Any advice on fuel and or additives would be appreciated? Car is 307SW HDI90 53reg done about 76000miles.
Cheers

Just drive it hard before going to the MOT. Its all most cars need. Make sure its nice and hot.

When you say drive hard how high would you take the revs too? I'm wary as the timing belt hasn't been changed yet.

Also some forums have mentioned the addition of adding 200ml of 2 stroke oil regularly to the fuel, any opinions on this?

As Shell diesel is the cheapest round here I use that.

As for additives - Millers Diesel Eco Max in every fill up.

Other than that, make sure all filters have been changed and any air pipes under the engine are clean.

I use tesco diesel all the time without any problems and every so often give it a shot of millers ecomax.

Runs like a dream.

I am too on Tesco diesel... and then a dose of Redex every 2-3 months.... car is running OK so can't be going far wrong.

True, it is 6000mls overdue. 70000 or five years under ardous conditions.
Two stroke oil shouldn't make a difference.
