Default Can I program a ID46 transponder myself?

This is my first post as I have only just brought my very first car. A Pug 206!

Unfortunately it only came with one key so naturally I want to have a spare set to hand. I have decided against getting a key via the official route due to the outrageous price that Peugeot demand so I've decided to try and do it myself.

From what I have gathered I need a blank ID46 transponder, blank blade, and a key head. I can get all these things off of ebay at a reasonable price.

My question is can I program the ID46 myself? I am currently in the process of acquiring Peugeot Planet Will I be able to do it with this if I get the correct cable off of ebay? If I can't do it myself does anyone know anywhere I can have a ID46 programmed at a reasonable price I the SW London/Surrey Area? My Car is a 2002 purgeot 206 btw. Thanks!

Okay I have decided that its not worth me getting PP set up myself and forking out for a cable that I'm only going to use once.
Does anyone know of anywhere in Surrey or that part or that part of the world that will code a chip for me?

I personally would invest in the cable....you won't just use it once....trust me...its peugeot. As for the key i believe you can code the key to the car with planet. hth....

You can obtain a PSA XS Evolution (what just about everybody incorrectly refers to as a Lexia 3/PP2000 interface which is actually an older and defunct product) clone for £45 from several sellers on AliExpress. This is less than most locksmiths will charge to program a key for you!

And yes, you can do it yourself!

Would this set of cables do it?

From what I have read there seems to be alot of confusion when it comes to which cables to use. Surely a cable is a cable right? as long as its the right socket its gonna work?

The main cable (grey with green plug) and one other in that group[ is all you need , but the other cables are usually thrown in , its the grey cable you`re paying for , but it won`t go for £1

Yes it does appear that they go for significantly more than that. I've had a look on aliexpress too but the cheapest there is along with postage to the UK seems to come to nearly £90 too!

Don't really think its worth me spending all this just to make a spare key myself when I can pay someone else for alot less than that.

I've tried contacting a few of the PP owners near me but unfortunately they don't seem to reply to me Any other ideas or cheaper places to buy the cables which isn't £90 considering I'll likely only need them once?

Why not do like the rest of us , buy them then charge others to use them , good side line in these times.

AliExpress is not as user friendly as ebay or Amazon so finding the best price for something requires a bit of digging, but it is worth it as AliExpress and it's associated sites are where most UK traders buy their stock from.

Here's where I got mine - click.

Works out at £64 including delivery at today's exchange rate. About half what you will pay on ebay!! The price drops to less than £50 each if you buy one hundred (don't get uptight about it - that's what wholesale versus retail is all about....)

PS. I don't intend on charging anyone if they want to borrow mine for a while! The goodwill is worth far more to me

Thanks r11co! I may well buy it at that price. The next task will be to get PP working on the virtual xp mode of my windows 7 laptop!
