Can bad/broken glow plugs stop regeneration of the fap filter?

Hmm..Peugeot say yes you need glow plugs to help bring up the exhaust temp to aid burning off of the sooth...I have plugged into a few 407 1.6hdi where the glow plugs had burnt out but the owners never got them replaced...I have told them often enough..

I checked out an abs fault for one of the owners a few weeks back and his car is regening every 3-400 mls...so it still seems to be regening with blown
plugs.
I suppose they do aid with the regens but are not totally critical....
