Default Braking News !!!!!!!

At the weekend we have just had a 2005 407 go straight through a give way and into a building 6 miles from me , i know the owner and his wife was driving , first of all she is ok apart from a couple of broken bones , now the worrying part she claims total brake failure, facts are its only after having new brake pads by a peugeot mechanic so he knows what hes doing two weeks ago , and after the crash the brake pedal is still hard , insurance company investigating and have informed Peugeot , will let you know more when i know more.

hope everyone's ok and the broken bones are only small one's
Now my bet would be the vacuum pump failing. mine did this a couple of times awhile ago and it feels like the brake pedal is SEIZED SOLID, abit like no servo assistance but worse MUCH worse, in fact i doubt a woman would be able to press the pedal at all (not sexist, just practical )
anyhow like i said mine did this a couple of times but seemed to have sorted itself out with no help from me, it was 18 months ago so i assume it was a blockage that cleared itself, both times mine did it was immediately after first start up with the car being stood at least overnight.
TBH i'd pretty much forgot about it until now but it was scary even just reversing the car out of the drive let alone at speed

http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/reca...=Blank&tx=VOSA build years 2006 to 2010

However, my VIN number is within the range and mine's a 2005

and

http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/reca...1/2010&tx=VOSA item 12 - 2004 - 2007 Recall 2009, so dealer should have details if you bought it after this date.

Snap! mine is Oct '05, yet if VIN no.s increase as they produce more, then mine too is in the range

My bet would be it's a woman driver who'd never concede she's messed up.

I'm my 3 short years spannering I had plenty of such crash-damaged brake failures on my ramp (mainly Nissan, but some other makes) and the one thing they all had in common, apart from having been crashed, was that the brakes were fine. Must have had a dozen or more, ranging from Micras to Patrols. Thinking about it, only one driver was a bloke.
