Wink

Peugeot in Nelson East Lancashire have been there years they used to be called a different name until being taken over by Perrys a number of years back. I have had good luck myself trying to trace a cars history I didnt have to do with my current 407 as all receipts and information and service book were well recorded until 108000 when the previous keeper (A Polish lad) had the car. I have now been servicing the car and carrying out repairs myself but I still make entries into the service book all beit without stamps. My last car was a VW Passat Tip Auto 130 2.0TDi it had no books when I bought it and therefore I could not validate any history. I went to VW and asked they were really really helpful put me onto the VW Customer Care Dept and I was able to contact them and get proof in writing of work carried out. The VW delearship could only give me the service intervals / mileage and what service had been done, not what work had been done but they could tell me, some confidentiality b*ll*x and the delearship codes where it had been serviced and started its life from. The codes of each garage were then Googled (i.e. VW 745) as advised by VW Service Dept and it showed 4 main VW delearships where it had been serviced. However one of them I could not locate VW745 I rang Customer Care and they told me it was a VW delearship in North Yorkshire Allerton I think it memory serves and it had closed down 4 years previous. My car had 3 services done there and I asked how could I get my book stamped in the garage didnt exist? They said they would write to me with a letter stating what services were carried out and what mileage. Sure enough it came through a letter just as described. I bought a replacement service book and I sent the book to each garage in turn with a SAE and in each case got the book restamped and I stapled the letter into the book showing what had been done at that delearship. They were really good and helpful job done.

A big thankyou to Perrys in Nelson , sent them an email last night to check service history on my new to me car , got a phone call today from the srvice manager to tell me they serviced the car from new and he knew the previous owner,
the car has 52k on the clock and it got a new clutch at 47k,squeak in timing belt so they changed it at 32k ,so i`m good to go for a while yet.

Not very often you'd get a result like that!

Stubbo I agree with that statement there are a few good dealerships out who are willing to help. The problem comes when you take your car to the dealership to have any type of work they fleece you pound for pound. Ive started to do a bit of my car again used to years ago but either too old or too lazy but I find myself enjoying the work If all goes smoothly that is!
