Default Anti Pollution Fault (not FAP)

Hi

I have a 2003 307 HDi SW (90hp) with the DW10TD engine. My problem is that if I floor the accelerator, the car cuts out - stone dead;no limp mode, it just dies. If I wait a couple of minutes, the car will restart with the anti pollution light on. If I'm careful with the right foot, it will go off after a day or two but if I drive it hard, the car will cut out again.

I have changed the fuel filter and it is little changed. I suspect that air is getting into the fuel system somewhere but is there anything else I can easily check before resorting to the main stealers? (the car has done 140k and it definately doesn't have a FAP).

Cheers for any clues.

Nick

Thanks for the reply Betty. There is a lift pump in the tank. Don't know about a filter. Someone is loaning me a FR704 on Friday so I'll be able to read the fault codes. Hopfully that'll give me some clues....

Cheers

Ok, I've read the codes. There were three. One was an intermittent fault on the temp sensor (I already knew the sensor was dodgy).

The second was " Remote Intermittent fault Brake contact signal Coherence between the two brake switches" Whatssat?

But the main one I was dreading......

"Intermittent fault Diesel high pressure monitoring function lack of pressure (leak)" ..... sounds expensive. Does it have to be the high pressure pump? Is there anything else that might cause this error?

Cheers
