Hi n00b here but i have a question i could do with clarifying
wife has a 308 57 plate and one of the alloys has what appears to be a blister on it asked the dealer and they 'think' its 3 years warranty, asked peugeot via the website and i get a' depends on the problem, a technician would need to assess' sounds wrong to me, surely if its covered by the paint warranty as is the case with my Skoda then it has an expiry date (Skoda's case is 6 years same as the car paint) and a simple answer would help me understand. im not a fan of my dealer which is why im trying to find out myself. if its in warranty then ok but if its out then ok too, im not looking to sue anyone i'd just like a straight answer and if its not covered i can look at alloy refurbishment myself trying to get a straight answer from peugeot is like trying to get blood out of a stone

from what i understand about paint and the similar warranties is that it is only covered if the "imperfection" comes from the inside...say if the car rusts inside to out....if that makes sense.
they are saying a tech need to look at it to determine if it is coming from the inside of the alloy or from the outside. but also i beleive they need to inspect the paintwork every now and again and stamp the book in order for the warrenty to be valid. i hope this helps... P.s chopper is the best person to speak to about this, he has the "warranty" crystal ball and knows all about it.

thanks for taking time to answer john_h
i understand it 'may' only be covered depending on what its classed as or what caused it, brake dust/paint imperfections etc but surely theres a period of time where its never covered, say after 6 years as in the case of my Skoda if its 3 years as suggested by the dealer, although there not sure, then i know to look into this myself regardless of how its caused but if its 6 then i can at least get a dealer to check out why its happened |

Check the paint warranty in your Peugeot handbook though - don't keep referring to what Skoda do as I'm sure they're different.

an update for anyone else wondering
All Peugeot passenger vehicles come with a three year, 60,000 mile warranty. Alloy wheels are stated as a trim item and in most cases are covered by a year's guarantee, (they are not covered by the anti-perforation/corrosion warranty like the paintwork is). There are a number of reasons that can cause rust to arise on alloy wheels, therefore, the dealer will have to inspect it. If your Peugeot dealership looks at this fault and finds that it has been caused by a manufacturing defect on the vehicle, (and if your car is still under the warranty) then it will be covered. If it is a wear and tear related issue then it will not be covered. If your vehicle is out of warranty, then any repairs are the responsibility of the owner. this came from the fourth customer service person i liaised with and answers my question |
