AL4 Poor Acceleration Problem

Hello all,

My friend has a 2004 model 16v 307 with automatic gearbox(AL4).
He is having trouble with his car. When he starts accelerating, engine starts roaring(I don't know this is the exact term ) but car doesn't accelerate as it does before. The acceleration is very poor. The problem is very similar like having a worn clutch in manual gearbox cars. If he depresses the gas pedal during acceleration, the rpm drops very rapidly. After second half of the second gear, everything starts working perfectly and the cars responses well. Another experience is that the rpm was 3000 when the speed was 110 km/h but it is 3100 rpm while the speed is 110km/h.
