Question ABS light on intermittently 308 1.6HDi

Looking for a bit of advice regarding the ABS/ESP light coming on intermittently when braking usually at low speeds. This has being doing this pretty much now for a year, owned car coming up for 2 years. Before the car ran out of warranty reported the fault to the dealer, they put car on their computer but no fault codes logged in ECU, they took car out for a test run but light didn't come on. Have used an ELM237 ECU reader which I have had plugged into the OBD socket to check for any fault codes that may be logged when the light comes on while driving, this is still not showing any ECU faults even when the light has come on! Any advice as to how I may resolve this issue would be appreciated.

On a different note to anyone else with the HDI engine, noted the fuel consumption higher than when I first bought car with about 15K, as it approached the 40K reading I replaced the diesel fuel filter as per the service book recommended mileage. Car is now recording better fuel consumption, but nowhere near the figures posted on that record breaking run around the UK by that couple to whom Peugeot gained some positive marketing spin

Take off the back wheels, remove the ABS sensor from the drum / hub and give the seat a really good clean - you may need a file and wire brush.

Refit and the gap between the hub and sensor should be very minute.

I had the same problem on my 307 - grinding abs when braking at low speeds but no dashboard warnings or fault codes.

I took my 308 1.6 HDi to almost 30k miles and it was consistently returning in the high 50's MPG in all round motoring. I could improve on that by hypermiling, adding 10 or more MPG, but with normal, if gentle, driving yielding the high 50's already it didn't seem worth it.

The couple you refer to are from new zealand, and thanks to them the 308 110 HDi holds the world record for production car public road fuel consumption. Prior to this it was held by a 407 HDi, and prior to that a 406 HDi. For more than a decade this record has belonged to a pug. It is absolutely all down to technique.
