Default 407 Heater blowing cold one side

Hi All.
My 407 heater does not blow hot on the passenger side. I believe it is something to do with the stepper motor on the heater box breaking off.
Does this require a new/replacement heater box or could i remove the heater box and somehow get the broken off part out. I understand that the heater box is a sealed unit!!!!!!!!!!!! Any help appreciated. Can't afford £1000+ to have it fixed.
Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim,
What happens is the gears on the flaps within the heater box break off and you'll be left in the situation your in...
There is a repair kit available from peugeot for around £50 or so but the dash will have to come out to fit it..
Never done one but it works out to be a full days work.

Maybe ring up peugeot and see if they can supply the kit....dont have the part no for the kit but if you get it maybe post it up here...
Ron.

I've had this happen a couple of times. Sometimes it's just one of the flaps sticking rather than breaking. Try switching from Auto to directional blowing; cycle through them at 30 second intervals whilst the heater is on max heat.

For me it has ended up with a lot of hot air coming up through the screen vents but sufficient coming through the other ones.

Good luck!

Oh, and then there's this 407 heater problem

there is a fix for this problem somewhere on the internet, i remember looking at a 'how-to' guide on a pug site somewhere a couple of years ago, i think it was a polish guy that did it but cant remember which site it was. i'll have a dig around some of my usual pug haunts

Default heaters

that will be great if you can find website as this seems quite a common fault with the peugeot heaters.

The flap will be broken in two. I've fitted eight heater boxes to these cars. Have done one on C5 aswell. pretty common problem. They can be fixed with a chemical metal but it needs to be moulded to the shape of the square lattice shaped bar that breaks.

"Heater damper shaft" (i.e. one of the flaps - blue part sitting above others) was broken. Solution: He buys a complete system out of a wreck for Euro 200 installation was E618. The installation ends up being fair but with a few niggles.

Here are a few picture of the fault.
