Default 308 Paint

Anyone know:

1) Where I can get a spray paint for colour code KTHC ? My main agent says there is no spray can for that colour, only a touch-up brush.

2) Whether there's any way of defeating the totally ridiculous 'economy mode' where you are deprived of power very quickly after switching off the ignition?

3) How I can put the cigar-lighter socket on the battery rather than the ignition - another Peugeot silliness.

1) Anywhere that either sells it, or will mix it to colour code. Check the interweb or your Yellow Pages.

2) No. It's a multiplexed motor and it's there for a reason.

3) You'd need to wire it directly to the battery via a suitably fused supply. Again, done to prevent the risk of fire by having a high current circuit active when the car is not in use. It should take about 22 minutes before shutting down, so you have an odd idea of what constitutes 'very quickly', or your car is broken.

One must remember that many modern cars one doesn't turn the key, that activates the solenoid and juice goes to the starter. Oh no, you turn the key and anything up to 27 computers (I think more still on the 508, but I've not had a firm figure yet) all take a vote on whether everything is well, and whether there is enough current to be allowing the engine to start, hence all these quirks to prevent current needlessly draining away when not in use. I mean, you'd only moan if you came back to a flat battery because you'd left some accessory plugged in to the socket and forgot about it, wouldn't you?

One also wonders why you bought the car if these niggles are so silly that they're worthy of bleating about? Should do ones homework a bit better, what!

If I recall correctly it's probably shorter than that.

That's an annoying problem on the wife's Citroën. If left in the garage for a fortnight the battery goes flat. I now use a battery conditioner for that. The Peugeot doesn't need it.

Possible, but unlikely. The socket in the boot is on the same circuit which can lead to problems with e.g. a car fridge or even a 12V inspection lamp if needed on the road.

They never put these things in the sales literature. Anyway the Citroën C5 I had before had the same economy power crap, but as I only ever buy French, I expect I shall have to put up with the French way of doing things.

They never put these things in the test drive?

Seeing as the car comes with free AA and Peugeot Arsist, i'm not sure why I'd want to plug searchlamps into the sockets.

Even with the CSMA's Britannia Rescue, not an tremendous lot of use in back of beyond in the Auvergne or Wales with no mobile-phone signal!
