Default 308 Outside Temperature Guage problem

Hi All,

My girlfriend and I bought a 2nd hand 58 plate 308 in April this year and have had intermittent problems ever since with the outside temperature guage display. Even when the outside temperature has been around 25 degrees it keeps dropping below freezing and on occasions has gone steadily down to -40 before going blank and seemingly resetting.

We have taken it into a Peugeot dealer as was still under manufacturer warranty but they have been unable to fix it. They say that they have replaced the sensor but havent seen the problem happen themselves despite them having it for a full week.

Is there anything that they may have missed? The cynic in me thinks that they have just been saying that they havent seen the fault as the warranty was due to expire. They only agreed to a months extension on that fault which has now also run out. We still have a warranty from the garage we bought it from so if there is anything new we can suggest to them it would be greatly appreciated!

We wouldnt mind so much about the temperature display being wrong but it's the beep everytime it passes + or -3 degrees and the fact that when it thinks its below freezing it wont blow out cold air!

Maybe its a bad earth somewhere? My 307 did it once, dropped to -50 but was OK the next morning and never did it again.

I'm guessing the sensor is in the mirror. So will the wires run through the door? It could be worth tracing the route and looking for anything suspect.
