307cc engine temp sensor

i have an 06 plate 2.0 307 cc, i lost power last week , wouldnt let me drive up a hill, RAC took me to Peugeot garage, they have today quoted me 1600 to fix engine temp sensor, it had cracked and engine coolant had gone down an electrical loom into the ECU, this seems to be a common fault from what i have been reading, will i have any joy in getting Peugeot to help with payment, or getting them to pay seeing as it seems to be common knowledge ? any help grateful thanks

Unless your model of vehicle has been recalled for this reason i would not hold my breath because they will not admit fault to be fair would you?
