Default 307 GT HDi 2.0

Hi all,

I wondered if i could trouble any owners of this model, prevoius or current, for their opinions on the above car, specifacally regarding the engine and running gear.

Im test driving one later, a 56 plate 3 door with 60k on the clock and its availibe to me for around 4,900. Was once a demo car too, so nicely speced

Ive been able to find loads of reviews etc of 307's in general, but not the the specific car mentioned above, and would really like to find out:
  • Are the engines/clucthes/gearboxes sound or prone to failure?
  • Any other known issues/gotcha's?
  • whats the performance like in general?
  • Any other info you' care to share, good or bad?

Any comments and advice are most apprieciated

Thanks

Just to add, I liked the car in the test and thought it was a nice drive.

But the seatbelt light was on permanently and the LCD screen thing flashed up a couple of times with a message saying there is a problem with the airbags or the seatbelt pretensioners. Is this a common sensor type fault or should do you reckonh this car has a bitt if a hidden past. HPI check was clear so I'm guessing the sensor???

Would really appreciate any thing you guys can offer

Cheers,

Ben

No shortage of used 307s for sale - if it's remotely suspect, go find another.

I didn't buy that model but recently I bought another 307, after the garage amended some sensor faults (airbag, coolant pressure, brakes) and then noticed why the arches weren't connected properly, as well as why the panels had slightly uneven gaps between them.

It was HPI clear too, but that doesn't mean you HAVE to record a front end smash.

Anyway what I am saying is don't get trapped like me, and pay over the odds for the motor.

When you go to pick it up, check that the panels all have even gaps, check for suspect dings, and check that the arch plastics and undertrays are all on.

If there is anything missing or damaged you can haggle a bit more with him, or suspect him of misrepresenting the motor and demand your deposit/money back.

I'm telling you now mate, don't buy a car out of haste and desperation because it'll be hell when it all goes to crap, especially with daft little sensors etc.

Taking the mrs's dad with me to check it over, he's an experienced panel beater and will know if anything's untoward and I won't be taking it away if there is. Thanks for the info Jazz.

The garage I'm getting it from say it's just the connections under the seat have worked loose. We'll see I guess...

It's areet mate! I wouldn't want to see anyone else go through the self-inflicted frustration I currently am!!

Aye he should be able to spot owt! Just check that the dash hasn't been replaced.

Deffo watch out for loose airbag connections, the last thing you want is one deploying while you are in the car on the road, with other family members inside.

Think safe mate.

My 2.0 hdi 307 xsi was a disaster. Still loved it though, and would probably get another! When they're good they're very good. When they're bad.... First pug I ever had bother with right enough.
