What youve done there is the equivalent of me saying "my house is a 2 bedroom semi, how many bricks were used to build it".....

Details would help, an introductory hello always please the folk around here as well

How long's a piece of string?

Lets start over. Fill in the gaps....

Hi folks,

My 20-- 307 1.6 ----------(petrol/diesel) does ---- mpg/------- miles per tank. I drive ----------- (like I stole it/like a granny etc) on mainly ------------ (motorways/country roads etc) and do ---------- (long/short/varied) mileage each time I go out. (Feel free to expand)

So far my answers would be, coz you drive too hard, coz your petrol station is robbing you, coz there's a big hole in your fuel tank.....

sorry about being vague but it is a 55 plate 1.6 auto 32,000 miles fpsh very well looked after car the fuel computer says it is doing 25.2 mpg but not really sure if that is correct . i drive it normal i would say, i will have to work it out on the next full tank but i think it did around 280 miles to the last tank

Really need to know what sort of fuel it runs on, and what sort of driving you're doing. A 1.6 auto petrol you only use to go for the paper in every morning, would be alright at 25mpg.

I would say that if you get antwhere near 30mpg you can be a happy man going by every 1.6 petrol I've been in.

Fuel consumption (urban) 29.7 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 48.7 mpg
Fuel consumption (combined) 39.2 mpg
0 - 62 mph 11.1 seconds
Top speed 118 mph
Cylinders 4
Valves 16 v
Engine power 110 bhp
Engine torque 110 lbs/ft

You'd need to be doing a lot of miles to justify it.

when i had my 2001, 5 door, petrol 307 rapier 16v i was getting around 32-35mpg and i drive like an ASBO and i drive mainly motorways...i managed to use less then half a tank getting from whitby to peterhead at 70mph on motorways.

your best bet is to service the vehicle fully and on time. make sure your tires are correctly aligned, balanced and pressured. your brakes are not sticking slightly. take out any dead weight that is not needed.
