Default 306 Lots of smoke

I have a 1999 306 meridian. Serviced about 7 months ago. I was nearly home last night when I noticed lots of smoke coming from the back of the car. I thought as I was almost home I would keep going and then smoke started coming from the bonnet, so I just off the car completely and then the fan came on. I was about 200 meters from home, so I let the car sit for 2 mins and then slowly drove it home. I have not started it since last night as I am afraid to do more damage. Any ideas? as I know very little about cars.

Thank you

Hi,
Think it was black, but unsure as it was dark. I only noticed it when a car behind
me was keeping its distance as there was so much of it

If you do not know about car and still having a car with something precarious happning to it, then it is better to check it from An Expert mechanist. This is a simple and best way you have had.
