Default 207 De-pollution system fault

Hi I have a peugeot 207 GTI and it recently brought up a warning about a fault with the de-pollution system. I have tried clearing the fault by disconnecting the battery but it comes back straight away. I then borrowed a fault reader plugged it in and the fault that came back was P2263. After an extensive look on the internet there does not seem to be a definitive answer as to what this fault code refers to. One suggestion I have had is that it could be one of the oxygen sensors. I had a look at the top oxygen sensor and the electrical connector did seem very dirty and had a bit of oil on it possibly where some has been spilt in the past. I disconnected the connector cleaned it and put it back however this did not make the fault go away. One thing however I did notice was that if I started the car with the oxygen sensor unplugged I still received the same depollution system warning but did not receive any other errors. I would have thought if the sensor was not at fault I would have received further errors if I disconnected it. This then got me thinking could the oil have shorted the connector and blown a fuse but I checked the fusebox and could not see any obvious blown fuses. Do the oxygen sensors have there own fuses anywhere or am I looking in completely the wrong area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
