206 Instrument Cluster Troubles... Help Please

Hi All,

My Girlfriend has a peugot 206 Y reg. When she bought it a year ago the rev counter never worked but recently all the other dials failed including the mileage which stuck at 112k then dissapeared after a few days and the speedometer froze at 50mph even when the ignition was off.

I have just fitted a second hand instrument cluster which I got off ebay which works fine now untill she has to turn on her headlights when the following happens

1) the speedometer freezes at whatever speed your doing
2) all other dials die and dont move at all and mileage dissapears
3) the blue full beam warning light and the two green indicator lights on dash stay on, although the full beams and indicators do not come on. When you put full beams on the light changes from the blue to the green normal light for headlights.

If she turns the lights off then all the dials reset and start working again as if you have just got into the car?

Does anybody have any ideas of what is wrong.
