2004 307s estate rear hatch locked

I'm having trouble with the above. Have checked lock motor on 12v supply it unlocks ok, release switch ok ( and have shorted it out to prove it ). Have 12 volt to release switch but it goes when switch is closed. Could their be a dry joint on circuit somewhere? Can anybody help with wiring diagram or advice on what this may be? Fed up with climbing in back to release hatch!
