Default Peugeot 4007 exhaust particulate filter

Hi,

I've hot a Peugeot 4007 and it's leaking fuild from the exhaust particluate filter. I've been told it's over £600 to replace. What's the implication of just letting it leak out and run with it empty? Does it cause damage or does it just mean it's not as 'green'? Is there any way to repair this by patching / welding or does it have to be a new unit? can I get a secondhand / reconditioned unit?

I've got a baby arriving in 4 weeks and I can't afford £600 right now :-(

Thanks!

Sorry it's in the Peugeot garage right now. I thought it was a leak from the petrol tank but they said it's exhaust particulate fluid that sprays through the exhaust. Apparently it's expensive stuff to top up if I just let it keep leaking out and letting it run dry will eventually damage something else. I hope that makes sense?

from what i understand the additive is injected into the fuel and helps the DPF regenerate...if this fluid is not present, it may damage the DPF as it wont be able to regenerate properly. this will cost £££'s to replace and £££ for top up of the fluid...nasty stuff aswell apparently...real COSHH

dont quote me on that tho, David may clear it up

Thanks. I've talked to the dealer again and after Googling it some more I can tell you it's the Eolys fluid reservoir - £400+ just for this and £150 for labour plus VAT. The dealer tells me that you can't get reconditioned ones from Peugeot, which is disappointing as I have read that they do reconditioned FAPs (DPFs). Does anybody know if I can get a reconditioned unit or one from a scrapyard?

i thought they were reconditioned ones.

for that price you can get the DPF, additive and a remap so you wont have this problem at all.

Ive been told that if I get a recond DPF I still have to get the reservoir as it doesn't come with it. If you can tell me where I can get the whole set I'd be grateful.

Is that really an option. I would have thought that the car would fail the emissions test at it's next MOT? If it really is an option who can do this in the Macclesfield area?
