Default paint match?!

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can help me....

I have a 107 on 09 plate and looked inside my doors for my paint code which i can only find my vin plate number of my car!

I had my wheel arch and side of bumper sprayed at a garage after an accident when i got the car and they have done such a bad job i went back to them in which they have done it again but its still the same.

its a metallic glitter black yet they are painting a plain dull black over the areas! ive told them this is the problem in which for the 3rd time they are having the car back next week.

i wanted to hsve the paint code in which i can tell them to paint match by getting this code.

im getting more fustrated as its only a 2 year old car in which they keep apologising but its not enough i just want it fixed

thank you!

Did you have the repairer's carry out the work on behalf of your insurer or as a privately paying client?

Mixing / ordering paint is very easy , they must have had a guess at the colour (it does happen when someone thinks its the one they ALWAYS mix etc)

Let them have another go , if still not right post back and I will give you further advice but tell them if its not right this time NO MORE GOES and you will seek the advice of an 'Independent Engineer' to assess the repair , they will also be liable for that cost also (around £125)

You could also tell them if they are struggling to get their Technical paint representative down to assess the colour and if needed formulate a closer match , this is easily done by spectrum analysis.

thank you so much!

ive rang them today and said im bringing it back today as it looks awful and ive had enough.

only option is to tell them there and then to paint match n wait till i collect it again! its just causing me so much trouble.... it cant be hard to paint match with the vin number can it?!

Of course, if you'd taken it to a pug approved repairer they'd get the shade right and your anti corrosion and perforation warranty is maintained. Sometimes we pay more for a good reason.

Anyhoo, there's a big sticker in the front door shut with the 3 letter paint code on it (can't remember if it's drivers or passengers, and mine's tucked up in the garage at the moment).

TBH, matching paint it's the most elementary thing a repairer does, and with modern paint compounds, paint code systems and cheap spectrographic matching equipment you gotta really try hard to muff it up.

Tell them you want the workshop Fossil to do it, not the work experience boy.

Chopper , paint warranty remains as long as the manufacturer specific paint brand is used regardless of repairer.

I was unfortunate in 2001 to almost get the sack when I couldn't paint a 306 without it looking a right Booolock. The reason , it wasn't coloured from the factory. Dealer told us that they had done loads and loads on warranty and we had almost repainted this bugger by that point ICI ended up formulating a 'special' for it. Light blue metallic , the name escapes me..........

Paint matching is basically:

1: Get shade near enough to blend
2: Blend adjacents , remaining away from edges with colour

Simples
