I recently bought a 2006 1.4 206 Verve and was looking at some new wheels. The ones I currently have are 14" in diameter but saw a killer set of 17"s on a GTI (Peugeot alloys, mind you).
I have spoken to my garage and they have said they are able to get hold of a new set of these GTI alloys, but was wondering if GTI alloys will fit straight onto the Verve chassis or whether I need to do some serious modifications to my axles or suspension? |

As long as the tyres are low profile and aren't too wide and the alloys have the correct off-set (20-25) you will be ok.

GTi wheels go straight on and can be specc'd from new on any 207 as an accessory.
However, it'll look a little odd as the GiT sits about 30mm lower on shocks and springs specific to the model, so you'll risk having families of asylum seekers squatting in your wheel arches. The other problem is that the 207s ride is already on the firm side of pleasant, and losing a load of sidewall is going to make it less than compliant. I'd only do it if your were swapping to GTi suspension as well, or maybe some good quality aftermarket suspension (ie, not sh***y Pi springs).

Sorry, I'm a tool! Fortunately exactly the same applies, except that the wheels were never available as an accessory.
Make sure you get proper GiT wheels, and not the visually very similar 307 ones ( most ebay sellers can't tell the difference ) as the offsets differ.

Yeah, those are a better set than ones I've already seen, not as damaged and only a couple of hours drive down the A365 for me...
Done a little bit of extra research though, I have been advised that putting GTi alloys on my car would make the wheels stick out of the bodywork by about 20mm each, thus making it illegal, I don't want to go putting wheel arches on it as I feel that's going into boy racer territory... |

I doubt very much that 206 GTI wheels will protrude from the body work 20mm. They will be 20mm wider than the wheels you currently have on your car but this does not mean they will stick out from the body work.
The problem most people get is when they try and put alloys with a different offset on their cars and this results in them sticking out from the wheel arch. |
