My car is metallic black so it will show any scratches and scuff marks on the door sills easily. I've looked at the offerings on Ebay but none of them protect the very edge of the sill where most wear is likely to occur.
I'm thinking of getting some strips of alluminium with a lip cut to size to protect the edge from a local sheet metal fabricator. Shouldn't be too expensive, I hope! What brand of double-sided tape would be up the task of fixing these plates in position? I want a roll of tape and not adhesive pads because I want to run the tape around the edge of the plate to seal it. Or do you know where I can get ready-made sill plates from a non-Ebay supplier?

I got my local vinyl guy to put some clear vinyl on the sills of my old works van. Worked a treat and you'd never know it was there.

Just back from visiting two vinyl sgn shops and all they could suggest was a thin clear vinyl sheeting which I thought much too thin and didn't offer enough protection.
I'll keep looking...

I did this about a year back. I did it to cover the scuff marks that a previous owner had left.
I used 3m double sided foam tape to hold it and it is really strong, thinks it the same stuff they use to hold number plates up.

That's one thing I liked about Rovers and MGs towards the end - they fitted chrome ones as standard.
