Default USB maximum tunes

I have a 59 plate 207 Sport HDI 90 with USB & Ipod sockets. Is there any limit to the amount of songs/tunes that can be loaded from a memory stick plugged into the USB socket? I have tried loading approx 100 songs and the radio will only accept 50, I have tried MP3 & WMA without any difference.

Thank you for any help in this matter.

This will be no help at all but...

Can you not just leave the USB disk in the slot and play off it?

I do leave the memory stick in the socket, I presume that the stick uploads to the radio and that the radio decides how much it will accept. I have scanned the manual and am unable to find any reference to the maximum amount. Peugeot main dealer does not know the answer either.

I meant rather than save the tunes to the car, why not just stream them from the USB stick while driving? So they are being read from the USB disk all the time?

Do cars have storage devices built in now?

My first thought was that it would stream from the memory stick but that does not appear to be the case. I presume that the radio has its own memory and loads from the stick to it, this would account for the limited space but I am only guessing hence asking on this forum.

Well if the radio does copy them off the USB then I've learnt something new today
Never thought any did this, just played direct off the USB

Peugeot advised that a recall had been anounced this month for an audio download update and that should clear the fault. After the update there appeared no change and then a computer technician discovered that some of the files on my memory stick were in MP4 format and that was the cause of the problem. So it was my fault and not Peugeot's I am pleased to say, and the radio does play straight from the stick.

Thank you JazzJPH and JMKENT for your interest and help.
