Default Rd4 Mp3

I drive a 54 plate sw, which came fitted with an RD4 radio, single CD player with a BAND button. Because its a bit of a pain changing CDs frequently, I recently bought a newer MP3 compatible RD4 unit, but with a TEL button. I have burnt a CD full of MP3s, and it plays fine.....all good so far. The thing is, when my mate ( who is an indipendant Peugeot specialist ) was configuring the unit to my vehicle, the unit threw up 5 faults, which he is unable to clear.

1 - Left hand analogue auxillary audio input 1 fault. Not characterised. Local
2 - Front left output fault. Open circuit. Local
3 - Front right output fault. Open circuit. Local
4 - Rear left output fault. Open circuit. Local
5 - Rear right output fault. Open circuit. Local

Also when turing on the unit, either by starting the car, or just pressing the power button, a series of loud bumps can be heard though the speakers. These bumps are so annoying that I cannot live with the unit. My mate thinks maybe this unit is for a higher spec car with more speakers???

Can anyone advise me how to get rid of this annoying sound please?

On the plus side, my reversing sensor beeps have become louder with the new unit.

Fingers crossed,
Ian.
