Last year I bought a second hand 407 with a RD4 radio/single CD player. It also has Bluetooth built-in but no CD changer.
I read a few articles about adding iPod connectivity and recently purchased a 9702ez USB box. I have removed the RD4 radio and found that the AUX inputs are both in use. I guess one is for the Bluetooth but I have no idea about the other one. I haven't tried to trace the wiring yet, but thought someone might be able to give me some ideas on what else this could be? I don't want to go unplugging stuff and adding the USB box until I have a better idea on what is connected. Hope someone can give some help please. |

Any chance you might have some aftermarket handsfree or the peugeots usb/aux box in your hand rest box?

Not that I can see. In the glove box is just the fuses on the left and then a completely empty space. Nothing in the footwell or near the central dashboard either.
As for the handrest, there isn't anything in there either, just some CD case slots. |

if bluetooth is built into the unit, then it wont be using an aux line...it will be a small chip inside the unit on the motherboard.
but ive heard parrot systems can use the aux line. only way to be sure is disconnect and check all features...

mmm, I say the Bluetooth is built in as the control is all done through the RD4 and MFD so I don't think it a parrot kit.
I'll have a look at the weekend and trace the wires as much as I can to find out what is using up the inputs. |

I had a look over the weekend at the back of the RD4 unit and found that the two connections in the AUX sockets do not appear to affect the radio, MFD, steering wheel controls, bluetooth, speakers or anything else in the vehicle.
I find this really strange as one connector has approx 8-10 wires going into it and the other has only 4. Also, the two connectors are then cable tidied into the other wires which are fundamental to the operation of the RD4 unit, ie I don't think they have been added at a later date. However, I did find two screw holes in the plastic down in the passenger foot well so maybe something was present there as an add-on previously. The car was originally a forecourt model so maybe that explains extra cabling? It would just be nice to know where they go to. Anyway, I connected my USB box to the AUX socket shown in the installation instructions and I was able to hear my iPod and navigate the menu using both central console buttons and stalk controls, so I am pleased I didn't need to go to a dealer to have the AUX port enabled. If anyone can shed any light on the mystery connections or where to look for the other end of these connectors, I'd be grateful. |
