Hi guys,
I have a pug 307 (March 2005) My cd changer has died on me so I have decided on fitting a aftermarket head unit. My question is do I need to purchase any further wiring to install a new headunit and removing my factory fitted unit? Is this a straightforward process I will be able to do myself? Any advice on how I connect things? I understand the stalk control will no longer walk as well as the radio dash display. any advice on fitting a aftemarket unit would be appreciated. Thanks |

hi, fitting a new aftermarket headunit is relatively simple. in the box you should get a harness adaptor which should connect to your existing wiring and connect to the headunit.
you will however have to buy an adaptor set to get your stalk working again. for peugeot 307 you will need Autoleads PC99-X44 and a patch lead. the patch leads are different for each make, sony and pioneer are PC99-Son etc. they just into the wiring and still straight forward enough. You will also lose the display info on your top display regarding radio station. it will keep displaying items such as time, date, temp and current trip info (if activated) if you see a headunit you like, post a link and ill help you choose the right adaptor set and any other info

Thanks John
I have been googling around for these answers. To be honest, I am not too interested in stereo systems I have been forced due to the failure of the cd changer. I am pinching a stereo from a friend. Once I have the details of the stereo I will post on here. I don't think il be too bothered about the steering controls not functioning, unless it's a cheap fix! Will I need to purchase a stereo harness iso wire? Or should this come with the stereo system? Thanks for the advice |

yeah unless your mate is already using it in their car. but it should be in the box. you can pick another one up from say halfords.
you can pick the adaptor cables for about £30 of tinterwebbings. to further on richies, to check to see if your radio is stalk compatable look for words like: - remote commander -rotory commander -steering controls - media stalks

It depends how expensive the CD changer is from a scrap yard is though. There are a few on eBay, but they're about £30 to £50. This one: Might not be suitable, but another option

Seems like i will have to purchase one after all, no aux in on my friends head unit.
Any you can recommend? There are some cheap ones with bluetooth functionality; or is it worth paying a little more for a decent brand. Also, i have seen some double din stereos, would these work? Thanks |

Following on from this discussion does anyone know if this will help.
CTDPGS003 Sony Stalk & Display for Peugeot 206/307/406/607/8 I've got a Sony BT2600 bluetooth headunit and want to retain both the stalk and display on my 53 plate 307 SW. It looks like it should from what i've read but the manufacture's technical support don't seem to want to reply to my e-mail! Matt |

Could you use a Connects2 CTDPGS003 to retain the MFD display and factory fit stalk controls? I'm interested myself as I've just brought a 53 plate 307 sw and want to replace the original head unit and multichanger with my Sony BT2600 headunit I've taken from my old car and then fit a pull out cup holder in the spare Din slot. I've tried to contact Connects2 but they seem reluctant to answer my e-mails!

I had a Sony BT2700MEX in my 307, worked a treat.
If you need cables or just advice on them I found Car Audio Direct to be brilliant, and their prices were good.
