Hi All, just posted in the intro section so won't repeat it all here except to say I have just purchased a 10 plate 407 SW SR with PC Nav. Part of my purchase was decided by the ability of the sound system to play MP3's but I also heard the dealer say that it had a hard disk for uploading the files to. Now I have the car I can't see how to do the upload and looking through the manual I suspect the dealer might be mistaken.
Can anyone advise or help please? Thanks for any help. FTF |

chances are it will be a solid state hard drive ie a large capacity memory card. this is because general hard drives used in a run of the mill pc's are subject to shock and can cause serious problems if they are, wheras solid is all good.
i cant help with the upload bit, but i can recall someone mentioning if you stick a normal cd in you can rip music. i will try and pull the thread up

If you can use the Sat Nav without the Sat Nav CD in the CD drive, you have the RT4 system with the hard drive. If you cycle through Source, you should get a choice of Radio, CD Player, Jukebox, Aux, (if Aux isnt disabled). Jukebox is the hardrive where you can copy and store CD tracks. Cant quite remember how you get to copy, but it's propably in the music section of the menu. Having said all that - when I got my 407 in December, Jukebox wasnt available as a source. I knew I had an RT4 with a hard drive, 'cause I opened it up and saw the hard drive and the reference numbers, (rather than RT4 the reference starts RT3-ev. After a lot of trips to the dealer who sold it to me, he eventually agreed to have someone look at it, and they fixed it so that Jukebox was available. He said there was a piece of CD stuck in the mechanism, but I'm not sure how that prevented Jukebox being available as a source. So you might have an RT4, but something might be preventing the Jukebox from showing. Edit: Just noticed you have a 10 plate, so you might have a later Multimedia system. However, I think the rule will still be that if you have to insert the Sat Nav CD to use the Sat Nav, you probably dont have a hard drive. Hope this helps, Richard Last edited by richard10002; 02-23-2011 at 10:06 PM. |

Thanks Richard, yes it does help but your description doesn't quite match what I have. The SatNav doesn't need a DVD present beacuse its on an SD card that plugs into the front of the unit. Don't know whether I have an RT3 or 4, I've read something somewhere but dammed if i can remeber or find it again. Will post back.
Thanks again. FTF |
