Default Help? Please? Dodgy stereo!

Hi,
Firstly, This is my first post, I have no idea if i'm posting in the right area....

I've recently bought a 2003 206 lx, but I'm having a nightmare with the stereo. It came fitted with an after market sony stereo, but with that fitted the date/time/temperature gauge resets itself any time you switch off the engine. I refitted the original VDO stereo which worked spot on for about a day, then it stopped playing anything, radio or CD, and doesn't display any info at all. It is still recieving power, you can insert and eject CDs as many times as you like. It just doesn't play anything!

Help! Please, its doing my nut in!

Cheers

Matt

hi, it either:

1) your radio needs pairing to the car again...but could point to another problem if it loses the pair again. if you put the radio on do you get a beeping noise at all?

2) your radio unit has gone duff...

3)i know for sony headunits the power needs swapping...by what i mean the constant and ignition feeds (yellow and red) need swapping round to allow the sony headunit to save its memory.

Cheers, the sony stereo had a massive adapter plugged onto the wiring that comes from within the dash, i've unplugged that so it plugs in as normal. I have however just found an additional lead with a single cable and a small plug on the end which just says 123 on the base, but i can't see anywhere that would plug in......

If it needs re-pairing, how would i go about doing that or is that a get it to a dealer job? I'd much rather be able to sort it out myself, my local peugeot dealer is completely useless....

And I'm not sure about that, i have an airbag light on due to a dodgy cable (sourced that earlier) but it does beep once thats flicked on, and then again about a minute later, i assumed that second beep is related to the airbag light.

Cheers

Hi, your problem has nothing to do with pairing the radio, even when a radio is not paired, it will still work fine, radio + cd, only thing you will get a constant beep beep
I would go with solution (3) in John_H post

Regards

Swop the power supplies around. It'll work perfectly then. There should be a yellow and a red connector at the back. Hook one yellow into red and vise versa.
