Default factory amp

hi everyone newbie here just bought a 206 1.4 auto for the wife she loves it,only problem with it is the sound on the radio as just gone.Its the factory fitted one.I have checked the fuses and the speakers what i want to know is there a factory amp some were in the car if so could it be that.I have looked in the boot no joy many thanks......it is 2002 model

if anywhere, like most headunits, it will be built into the unit itself.. no way to fix it apart from replacement im afraid

ic output chip has gone matey best get down to your local halfords and you should find the new unit will plug straight into the car all you will need is an aerial adaptor which may even come with the new head unit

Forgot to mention

does it have aftermarket speakers fitted i.e. like 6x9 on the rear shelf etc as if it has and someone connected the wires out of phase (wrong way round) then this can cause this to damage the unit

original poster put its a factory fit radio, so i doubt the speakers have been touched aswell

you are correct in saying buying an aftermarket headunit will need the aerial adaptor, in most cases the radio comes with this. but to keep steering wheel stalk compatability you will also need pc99-x44 and pc99-son/ken/alp (depending on manufaturer)

Now that would depend on if the vehicle was only equipped and wired for only 2 front door speakers then what most people do is they add 6x9`s in the rear shelf and dont consider speaker polarity

aii true... i did it myself but used a multimeter to generate the sound signal
