Default 'Error 1' displayed when trying to play a CD

Hi,

I have a peugeot 107 and when I try to play a CD the message 'Error 1' is displayed. I have tried playing several different CD's and each produces the same result. The radio and aux socket all work fine. I googled the problem and found a site that says for a peugeot, error 1 means the battery in the CD changer must be changed.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct and if so how to do this or how to solve the problem?

Thanks.

But you don't have a CD changer though, do you? I presume you mean the CD slot in the head unit itself?

I didn't think there was a CD changer but when I discovered the problem I checked the manual and it mentions a CD changer and there is a button on the front of the radio to change between Discs (which is present in my car but I have never used). However the manual makes no reference to the Error message.

Thanks for your reply

Ah, so you do have the CD changer fitted. Have you tried unplugging it and trying the CD again - if its disconnected, it may help to prove your original theory.

No I haven't tried that. Do you know how to do that?

Thanks

If you know where it is though (in the boot, or under the front seat?), you should be able to just unplug it.... I've never come across a changer, so only presuming there is bound to be some sort of plugged connector on the back.
