Lightbulb In-car Television question

now then ladies and gents,

quick question for those in the know...

basically i have just bought a new headunit for my car, heres the link:

FORD FOCUS FIESTA TRANSIT DVD GPS Player - 7 Digital HD Touchscreen DVD - Car Stereo iPod BT Control

well anyways they say it can receive television...if i get the antenna, thats not a problem.

but my question is, would the signal be worth it or would it be like radio where it will keep it decent obviously in places such as tunnels, moors and other rural places the signal will be lost...

also i beleive these sell similar for peugeots....oem communication packs

Well it'll have to go through your aerial!

Is there a way to check the power of the aerial so you know you're going to get the best signal?

Edit: I can't see where it says it plays TV (unless you add the extra for USA or Brazil)

nah it goes through a different aerials, obviously seperate connections on back.

i understand all the maths etc behind the Db power for aerials etc...but i was meaning like would it be worth it...would it be constantly losing signal while on the move so in other words pointless...if you know what i mean

it does do it, thats from where i am getting it...hong kong...and like peugeot planet...they havnt got a clue

can it be used on the move or is there something thats means it can only be used whilst stationary ??? legally (i think) if it can be seen by the driver it has to be disabled whilst moving. I could be wrong tho

You're right trem.

I know a fella has tv in his van. He has an aerial inside the front and rear window. It's a rectangle about 75 x 10 mm give or take. His works well.

a lad I went to college with has a dvd player in his car and he got the lad that installed it to disable the lock that stops playback during driving. I personally wouldn't as it's too dangerous.

To be honest, anyone watching TV while driving is as much a tosser as a chav in a corsa cutting you up.

Anyway, I kinda meant that as long as the aerial is strong enough, you'll get a decent signal, but you'd never get a decent signal in the tyne tunnel or in a lead bunker, you know?

If it's owt like TV aerials you have to spend ages angling them correctly etc. and in a car I could imagine it being a nightmare.

However if they're offering the technology, then they've obviously found a way to do it. check the returns policy and take the plunge!!

or a punto :P anyways, aii i know wat u mean jazz about it being dangerous on the move etc, if i was to take the safety locks off...so it wont play a dvd it would only be for passengers, ill just listen myself. if you seen the way i drive you'll understand i am no chav and will risk a crash by watching a small clip...

yeah i was thinking it might be like those pointless little indoor aerials that you can get that only picks up one channel. i spent 2 weeks installing a proper loft aerial (working around work) trying to get all the channels, turns out the polarity up here is vertical and not horizontal im going to give it a miss anyways...just getting it for the dvds, bluetooth, sat nav etc etc.

I can't wait til I get rid of that Punto, might see it accidentally smash into a 06 plate silver focus (with a blue interior tinge)

Then they'll both be as useful as each other!!

Whichever decision you make, you'll regret. It's just one of them things!

ooo now thats a bit cheeky but in my style it cant be just a shunt...

you will have to slide out of control on the roundabout for the A1 and 167 go through the railings, roll down the road A1 northbound, in front of me...i go into side...set some explosives off and bring the whole road network down from there obviously gotta get cameras in.
