We have a new 5008 exclusive with the standard radio and factory fitted USB connection.
I'm trying to connect a media player / iPod, I'm either getting "artist" with the iPod or album with the media player. My problem is that I want to use playlists as I drive long journeys and don't want to mess around looking for albums In the handbook it "suggests" that it can play them. Do I need to get the radios firmware updated and if so can only the dealer do this? |

Ive been looking into this at the mo, as i have the same model, from what Ive found so far , play lists must be either in M3U or PLS or WPL format , thats as far as Ive got at the mo, hopefully i shall have a play tomorrow to see if i can create a playlist in one of those formats

The ipod used the .m3u files and sony use the .pXX files
The unit doesn't read them and if you look in the manual it stats in other part that it doesn't read them. I'm going to get a memory stick and copy music and relevant playlist file to it. I'm hoping its the directory stucture is complaining about rather than it can't read the playlist files. I think that might be why we need the firmware updated and I'm not sure if the usb device is another companies i.e. Denison |
