Just treated myself to an 8 month old 407SW 2.0Hdi 140 Sport - previously had 309 SR and 406 GLX for 12 and 11 years respectively.
Getting to like my new car (it's got a bit to live up to in my 406). When I bought my 406 it had a radio but no CD player. The main dealer fit one in the left wheelarch in the boot. It was a Philips 6 play autochanger. The 407 has a radio and CD single player. I notice that in the storage bin at the back right there is a space roughly autochanger size plus a (what seems to be spare) blue multisocket. Could I plug any old autochanger into that socket or am I totally off track. Roy |

You need the pug autochanger, and then you need the head unit configuring on Planet to recognise it's there. Well worth doing - MP3s are all well and good, but for real audiophiles the don't get close to a standard CD's 1440 bps.

Thanks Chopper. Could you explain what you mean by configuring on Planet?

It's a sub 15 minute job at the dealers, or for a hobbyist with Planet.

I got my new car and the same CD player which I make fit from outside dealer. I had the same confusion as you have. But I contact to my dealer and ask him for this. He suggested me the same thing and I followed his instructions. Now I have a new problem with my CD player. When I start the CD player while on the running the car it works good but if I stop for sometime it works terrible and some irritating noises are coming out.

I bought the changer off ebay. It is dated April 04, but seems to work fine. I just plugged the blue socket in to the socket on the end of the cable and slotted the changer into the slot behind the cover on the inside of the right rear wing. It locks in perfectly.
CD and track changes work as they should. The only thing it that the source comes up with no wording, not a problem as everything else is named. There aren't any CD or track numbers displayed but I don't know if there should be anyway. Thanks everybody for the advice. Roy |

It sould display CD and track number...I think. Been so long since I've been in my 407 I can't remember. I'll look tomorrow.
