Default 206 blaupunkt cassette radio loses code when switched off

My W registered 206 fitted with a Blaupunkt Peugeot T1 LOW cassette radio (code and serial number could be supplied if necessary) prompts for the 4 digit code to be entered each time it is switched on, but then loses the code when the ignition is switched off for more than a minute or so - it retains the code if switched off at the button with the ignition left on. The pre-set stations are retained in the memory. So far as I can see all the car fuses are OK.

Ideas and fix please anyone. Thanks in anticipation

sounds as tho you may need to pair the radio to the car again...either that it is time for a new headunit
