strange 806 auto problem

hi all i have a 2001 806 1 owner from new full peugeot history 60k on the clock it has generated an auto gearbox problem where it is fine for 10 mins till warm then it will only engage reverse gear not any forward gears!? peugeot said new box needed for £2500! the gearbox works fine when cold....how can it be such an expensive problem?....any ideas would be appreciatted.

Just to give you some hope... Check the oil level in your gearbox - it may be low.

Next check all electrical connections to the gearbox.

Has it been on a Peugeot Planet?

However, more likely is a faulty pressure regulator within the gearbox. Prepare to take out a second mortgage. unless you can get a known good one second hand.
