Reluctor rings ..806 MPV 2000/2001 (ABS)

Had the pretty yellow light come up the other day.
I have got one ring loose on the passenger side and suspect that that is it.
How likely is it that I can achieve a good repair and how ??
Also.
How difficult would it be to change the CV joint complete.??
Are there any un forseen complications. ???
Any advice appreciated.. .
P.S. I've had the old gal for the last 10 yrs .. Brilliant Servant.

Hi Rimbob,

I appreciate the thread is pretty old, but here goes anyway - maybe this will be of use to someone else with the same problem.

I have not had to do the job yet on the 806, but have had lots of experience of ABS/reluctor rings on the two 406's that I have had. From my experience, whilst it is possible to repair them, I would suggest replacing them - mainly for the reason that if they are not contigous they will cause another fault (and it's a fair bit of work to get the hub carrier off, drive shaft out etc, only to find that you have the same problem again. They do not carry any current etc, but the distance between each crown has to be the same, otherwise it causes the same fault.

ABS Reluctor Rings for many modern cars list them for the 806. They were about £40 when I last got one for the 406. Once you have the drive shaft out (you can do it with them in but with the suspension leg out/away, but it can be tricky). You need them to be hot, (very hot preferably) so that they will slide on cleanly.
