807 tailgate locked?

Hi just found the forum and wondered if anyone could advise on a problem.
807 2.2 diesel 03 plate.
tailgate will not open (have to open with screwdriver from inside) but the display says its "open" so the central locking will not lock because it thinks the tailgate is open.

Think we had this recently and it was a broken wire not far from the switch.

Very carefully pull out the little plate that operates the switch. You know the plate your fingers rest on to open the door. The plate could be contacting the micro switch all the time.

Thank you for your suggestions and and tried them but to no avail.
UPDATE
when the sun is on the car (the rear) and it warms up the fault clears......
the tail gate open clears on the display and the central locking works tailgate opens
success ,,,,,,,,,,,No

evening comes .....air cools...............back to fault condition.
is there any relay or module that could be affected by cold or may be damp?

Hi, i had that problem with our 2003 807. It turned out to be water and corrosion in the plug that connects to the lock on the tailgate. Remove the trim panel, remove the lock and disconnect the plug. You will need to clean out the contacts and i used vaseline to smear into the male and female sections of the plug. No problems since

The fault does change with heat of the day as above .....it locks for most of the day now but as always the colder evening and fault returns.
