I have aquired a problem with one of my tyre sensors.
When I screwed the dustcap onto the valve it wouldn't go on. I then realised that inside the cap were the top two threads of the valve. The centre pin now protrubes 1/4 inch above the rim of the valve. This means I can not pump the tyre up as the air now leaks passed the tyre gauge. Does any one have any suggestions? I have thought about removing the valve core and cutting the top 1/4 inch off. If I do this will it cause any problems. I would like to know if anyone has had similar problems and if they have what did they do to fix it (beside buying a new sensor). Dave |

Hello Dave
Had a similar problem two valves a week or so ago, one the same thing the other split creating a very slow leak. The boys at the tyre shop are mates of mine and explained what was what. They didn't know if the valve was position (on the car sensitive) or even if the recieved would complain if no signals were sent. They offered new standard valves but no guarantee there wouldn't be a problem with the fault messages etc. Ours is a 2006 807 SE and have to say that our car doesn't know that the sender valves are no longer there. For me that's two potential problems less on our car and as I check tyre pressures on a regular basis I don't feel the need for these devices. Hope this helps |

But if you leave it like that and a tyre pressure fault appears on the dash you will fail your next MOT,
find someone on here close to you that can disable the warnings then remove any and all |

I understand bettyswollocks, but there was a fault showing on the dash screen for one tyre which dissappeared once more air was introduced.
When the 2 tyres and faulty valves were removed, the old valves were placed (and are still) in the rear of the car but not fitted to tyres of course. They don't transmit a low air pressure signal even though they aren't measuring any positive pressure laying in a side pocket. I do not claim to understand any of this at all, and see the logic in the point you have made, but on thinking about it as they were operative why don't they either as removed from operation signals or relaying a low air pressure signal as not fitted show as a fault on the display. I only ask this as I am a naturally curious person. Thanks for your advice |

I'm truly amazed if you can have the sensors lying in the car and not generating a fault on the dash
![]() There are pick-ups in each wheel arch, so these can't be picking up the sensors, so how on earth are there no faults

The 2 sensors are still in the pocket above the LH rear wheel arch, in line with row 3 of the seats.
I know one is/was functioning as when we collected the car the low tyre pressure warning was on the screen and once the obviously lowish tyre was inflated it extinguished. Maybe steel bodywork is preventing the signal being received? |

If the signal wasn't being received, you would get another warning indicating that "monitoring not active" or something similar.
If your car still has them enabled, which you've said it has, then I can't understand how you are driving it without sensors in 2 wheels and not getting any warnings

i did the same as you, the way i got round it was to get an extension fitting (they use them on the double wheels on the back axle of wagons) you screw it on to the broken valve then put your airline onto bow it up.

Great idea and so logical. I'll get a twin wheel adapter and see how it goes. I'll keep it in the glovebox and use it for topping up the tyre only.
Thanks, will keep everyone updated. Dave |

When I took my sensors off all 4 were knacked btw, I never got an error until I was approx 3/4 of an hour into a drive then they went nuts, even when starting all checks ran through fine n my sensors were thrown in the wheelie bin.
