software cd for colour sat nav

I have bought a 04 model 607 2.2 HDI Auto with colour sat nav. The car came with a map cd which is dated 2003 and no software cd. Is there any benefits to be gained by trying to get the latest software cd? I can get the latest map disc but as I understand it, it does not contain any up to date software.
I did see a reference to a software cd part number on a post on this site but does anyone have the part number and details of where I could get one?

hi John,

what you need to do is to contact buy a new map cd from navteq, for UK and Ireland its only £65 for the genuine cd. Do not buy from fleabay, you might get it cheap, it might be an older version, a copy etc.. waste of money and not worth it.

Updating the software could certainly help system to run better and respond better for e.g. re-route calculation is faster etc.. It really depends what version you have...

I have posted the part number on another thread. please let me know how you get on..
