hi after getting my car back on the road it developed a new fault had it on diagnostics and it says the fuel pump is defective i thought this as i could hear it rumble so purchasd one from eurocar parts £59 located it under the seat and had a look at how to fit it is there any special tools needed to release the pump any advice would be appreciated on removal and refitting and do i need to get it reset on the diagnostics before it will work

DON'T DRIVE IT! If the pump fails you risk the swarf getting into the fuel system - if you're lucky it'll need flushing or new pipes, if you're unlucky it can lunch the high pressure pump, though hopefully the filter would save it (but not always). I've seen a 406 written off because the fuel system cost more to replace than the car was worth.
It' an easy fix, but you might need the trouble code resetting afterwards.

cheers chopper had to nurse it home once it happened so hoping theres no further damage also had to exchange the pump as the new one i got was not for the dpf models so new pump was 129 quid but is an original bosch one and its costing a further 50 to fit and re programme ill let you know how i get on once fitted thanks again
