Default Rear Brakes

Hi All,

Not been on here for some time, alot has changed. My dad now has my 607 and I now have 207 GTi and the Mrs has a 206 2.0Hdi Eco.

Needless to say I've had enough of the choppy ride in the GTi also I've had loads of problems with it's BMW Turbo'd engine. Timing Etc!!! I want something comfy and more reliable back in my life sometime soon!

Anyhow!

The 607 has a grating noise coming from the back. Sounds either like a grating bearing or even possibly worn discs/pads.

1.) To change the rear Discs and Pads will I need a Wind Back tool?

2.) If it was the Pads shouldn't a light have come on?

3.) is the rear bearing hard to change? I understand the fronts are a pain?

Anything else to look out for when changing the discs and pads? I've done the fronts on my GTi before and on previous cars but no rears.

SECOND ISSUE

The cruise control judders and sometimes cuts off on its own.

Somebody has said this could be down to a vacuum pipe? Is there anything else I can look for?

Cheers All

Jamie

So, I've finally driven the 607 again for the first time in a couple of years.

The brake pedal is absolutely rock hard. I'm guessing that a caliper has seized on as with the window down you can hear a grinding noise from one of the discs.

I'm going to have a look tomorrow and see if I can see which one it is?

Do you think it could be a knackered caliper or do you think it's those pins?

on my early 607 there is no brake pad warning system on the rear
you don't need a windback tool because the handbrake doesn't use the pads that the foot brake uses, so the caliper pistons just press in
