Purpose Peugeot 607 'Shark Fin' antenna on the hood?

(1.) What is the purpose of this antenna?

(2.) Is this optional or standard?

(3.) Where does the 607 has it's normal antenna? Is it buried somewhere under the hood?

1- its the Radio Antenna
2- its standard
3- the wire from it goes to the aerial amplifier located behind the left rear pillar airbag which then goes into a filter and then to the back of your radio..

If this is a "standard" feature then why is it not found in many of the 607s? It is found only in "some" of them.

Because, from the new model (year) 2005 onwards this fin replaced the 'built-in'' aerial in the rear window that was found on pre 2005 models.

Hope this is correct!
