hi all i have a 2003 2.2hdi auto 607 love the car a few faults but hasnt every car . tried to get to work this morning started the car it fired for a few seconds and stalled turned it over a few more times with no result returned from work tried to start it nothing at all would not turn over then switching to power saving mode warning came on thought it was the battery and bought a new one fitted it and still nothing and power saving mode warning is always on when you turn the ignition on any advice would be appreciated cheers

tried again this morning tried a booster pack to jump start the car but still no engine movement when i turn the key could do with the car too our area of scotland got hit with seven inches of snow last night

after numerous attempts today to try and get the car started i think i will have to give up and arrange for the car to be transported to a dealer would appreciate any ideas or suggestions anyone can come up with as someone must know how to gwt the car out of power save mode

Not to worry you here but i remember one guy on here had the same and it turned out to be his BSI at fault
As with any electrical problems i'd reccomend following the BSI reset procedure to see it it works And FYI power save mode just turns off supplementary devices such as cd player etc, it wont affect the starting of the car! But definately try BSI reset, then when it comes to waking the system up use a known good/fully charged battery

cheers for the reply mate i tried the reset it made no difference ill just have to try getting it to the dealer to get checked out

Ah thats not good then, just be warned it could end up coming in at a big bill (worst case scenario)
With any luck it might just be a crankshaft sensor or something smaller thats not working properly

thanks for all the help guys turned out to be the starter motor which was faulty cheers again

Your car may have a battery in the boot as well as a battery up from in engine bay. They give some bother. The battery in the boot is to keep all the electronics powered.
Question, BSI reset? never heard of it! |

disconnecting the battery three minutes after last operation does the same thing. Then waiting another three min to let everything reset.
