Default no more frozen wipers, flat blades on my 607

I finally got fed up with the wipers on my 607 to do something about it.
Normally I slosh some luke warm water on the windscreen to get it de-iced, but what happens with the 607 is that this is fine for about 20 minutes but then I hit the M25 and the wipers freeze solid. The arms sweep okay but all the joints in the blade freeze up so the the blade only touches the glass at the ends.

So half way to work I'll try and clean the windscreen and I just can't see a thing, and I really, really hate that.

Anyway I have found a way to fit Bosch flat blades to it which have no moving parts, though I have had to rock the wiper motor frame back a bit to increase the pressure of the arms on the glass.

Haven't had a cold journey since but I'm hopeful.

this is how I did it

is it a flat screen on the 607 ??
I ask as my 60reg mercedes sprinter has a curved screen at the edge and is a PITA when its frosty, it misses more of the screen than it wipes cos the rubber goes stiff with the cold so isnt flexible enough to follow the contour..good luck with yours and keep us updated

the glass is curved across the car but almost flat vertically
this means that if the blades freeze up they freeze in a curved position, but then as the blade sweeps up they don't flatten out and so the middle of the blade lifts off of the glass

that said these flat blades aren't perfect

they seem to need more force to press them flat as they have a normally curved shape, and I found that the passenger side blade doesn't press perfectly onto the glass at the top of the sweep. Luckily the drivers side one covers that bit of glass as well.

Today I put 3mm of spacers under the front of the wiper motor fixings and now both blades touch all of the time. We shall see.

oh and the other thing, I found when I first got my 607 that the automatic wipers go nuts if I don't Rainex them. With Rainex on the screen the auto wipers work beautifully. A cheapskate solution might be just to put Rainex on the bit where the sensor is.

I've found that my wipers go mad on my 607, I will try some rainex and see how we go.

Thanks for the tips
